Manual Handling

N.B It is essential that your staff receive the appropriate level of training so that you can comply with your legal duty and ensure that you are protected from prosecution and litigation. Handling courses are tailor made training package to suit your individual group of staff and selection of the appropriate training should be based on assessment, available from our support line by request. The courses currently available are as follows:

5-day Moving and Handling advisors course for Senior care staff

The Health and Safety Executive and the professional bodies state that all qualified nurses / senior staff who work in high dependency units need this level of training. The HSE recommendation is that at least one senior member of staff in each establishment should have successfully completed this course. This is because even assuming the training is acknowledged by all staff, there needs to be someone who can monitor and implement safe practice. The HSE states that the employer “must appoint someone” to minimise the risks. When the trainee has successfully completed the course he/she can then be in a position to design and implement the on site training sessions for the rest of the staff.
