Short Courses

A range of practice based courses suitable for hands on care staff and / or staff who may require evidence for National Vocational Qualifications in Care or registered nurses who require evidence for Post Registration Education and Practice(PREP). These short courses provide underpinning knowledge for both TOPSS induction and foundation framework. Duration of these courses is two hours. Cost £185 inclusive.
N.B. There is no limit to how many staff may attend.

GROUP A - INTERPERSONAL AND KEY CARING SKILLS
Personal Care: For all staff working or entering into the field of care
Medication dispensing: For all staff working alone in the community
Promoting Caring Skills using Approach: excellent hands on training
Observation Skills for Care assistants: for front line care staff
Communication with disabled clients: for staff caring for people with special needs
Death, Bereavement and Loss: support and advice for a difficult issue
Abuse - The issue: A delicate insight into what is abuse and how to cope with it
Child protection: This session is designed to run alongside the abuse workshop
Equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice: awareness of this issue
Aspects of care Planning: for all care staff involved in implementing care plans
Communication Skills: an introduction into effective communication with a range of different people

GROUP B - BRANCH CLINICAL AREAS

Medication in the elderly: Drug rounds, recording, most common drugs, side fx
Nutrition and diet: important information for hands on care staff
Good Continence Practice: essential for all care settings
Progressive Catheter care: covers male and female catheterisation
Good Night Care: using the Roper, Logan and Tierney Model of practice
Common Ailments in elderly care: covers strokes, epilepsy, COAD etc.
Wound Assessment / prevention of pressure sores: excellent hands on training
Diabetes Today: the latest approach to diabetes care
Arthritis Care: exploring the best ways to care
Stroke care: signs, symptoms, management
Law and Ethics: designed to address the many ethical dilemma's associated with care
Disorders of the respiratory system: basic skills for all care settings
Epilepsey advanced:
